“Fear makes us walk backwards into life,” spoke Ken Wytsma. Neatly, this hits us right between the eyes. Fear removes all ability to imagine any other possibilities except our worst nightmares. God lights our life with His presence, and it should cast away our fears. Shadows are the results of bright light. In the sunshine, we cast shadows all around us. As long as we continue on our course the shadows do not scare us, but when we look behind ourselves, the shadows seem to be chasing us. These shadowy illusions create a creeping fear as we look away from God. Our word for today should give us courage in times of shadows. James 1:7, “Every generous act and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights; with Him there is no variation or shadow cast by turning.” Peter walked on water until he looked away, then fear overcame him. Same truth holds for us - rely on the Father of lights.
